Rainiers Score Late, Top Stag, 6-5
|
Rainiers center fielder Daryl Boston put his stamp on his team's 6-5 win over the Portland Stag. Boston went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Tacoma in the contest. Tacoma reliever Carlos Reyes picked up the win to move to 1-3. Kerry Ligtenberg suffered the loss. Greg McMichael sewed up the save, his 1st.
In the top of the ninth inning, Tacoma got a break when Boston went to the plate. With two outs, runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Rainiers trailing 5-3, Boston hit a 3-run home run.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Boston told the Tacoma Observer. "It's as simple as that."
The Rainiers, now 12-22, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
