Hansen Excels, But Brass Win
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Dave Hansen, the Portland Stag suffered a 6-5 loss to the New Orleans Brass. Hansen went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Reliever Matt Whiteside picked up the win. His record improves to 3-0. Dilson Torres took the loss. The Brass improved to a lofty 29-11.

Mike R. Fitzgerald's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for New Orleans. Coming to bat with one out, a runner on 3rd and New Orleans trailing 4-3, the catcher hit a run-scoring single.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Portland manager . "But we decided not to take it."
