Rainiers Sneak Past Sky Fox, 5-4

Tacoma withstood an impressive performance by Colorado Springs left fielder Steve Pegues to defeat the Sky Fox, 5-4, at Motors Ballpark. Pegues was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 3 times. Tacoma reliever Ed Pierce picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Darren Hall shouldered the loss. Brian Boehringer closed the door for Tacoma, picking up his 9th save of the year.
Steve Hosey was a prime contributor to the Tacoma win. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs. In the top of the eighth with one out, the 26-year old right fielder hit a solo home run. It made the score 5-4, in favor of the Rainiers.
"Both teams played hard," said Tacoma manager .
The first-place Rainiers have won 4 straight games.
