Lazy Fisherman Topple Storm Chasers as Hammonds Shines
|
Naperville left fielder Jeffrey Hammonds had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Omaha Storm Chasers, 6-3. Naperville starter David Cone was credited with the win after throwing 107 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 4-2. Blas Minor closed it out for his 9th save.
In the top of the first, Hammonds had one of his most important at-bats: a solo home run off Mark Leiter that staked the Lazy Fisherman to a 1-0 lead.
Hammonds called the triumph "a good team win."
Today's win puts Naperville at 19-22, while Omaha falls to 11-30.
