Stag Continue Skid Thanks to Sierra, Brass
|
The New Orleans Brass defeated the Portland Stag, 7-6, at Tuttle Fields. Ruben Sierra was named player of the game for New Orleans. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double, in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. The winner was Tim Davis in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Kerry Ligtenberg took the loss. Luis Aquino earned the save for New Orleans, his 5th.
New Orleans relied on the bat of Eric Karros to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brass ahead, 7-6. For the game, Karros had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Enjoyed this one," Karros told the New Orleans Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
