Creams Turn Back Knights, 5-3
|
Milwaukee right-hander Kelly Downs made an effective start against the Charlotte Knights at Milwaukee County Stadium, leading his team to a 5-3 win. Downs picked up the win for Milwaukee, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. The Creams have hit the ground running, raising their record to 15-8. While it's still too soon to talk about Milwaukee hoisting their 2nd World Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out in the bottom of the first inning. That's when first baseman Carlos Delgado, who is tied for 3rd in the FL with a 1.155 OPS, hit a 2-run double. The Creams went on to win.
Downs called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
