The New Orleans Brass downed the Portland Stag, 7-4, at Tuttle Fields. The Brass were led by Darren Reed, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Mark Brandenburg in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Scott Watkins took the loss. The Brass have an impressive 49-25 record.

With New Orleans leading 5-4 in the top of the 11th, Reed hit a 2-run single off Portland hurler J J Thobe. It was the 24th hit of the season for Reed and put his team ahead, 7-4.
