Stag Topple Sounds with Late Rally
|
The Portland Stag bested the Nashville Sounds by a score of 6-2, with center fielder Milt Thompson getting the main credit. On the day, Thompson was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Stag. Portland reliever Rusty Meacham picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jeff Innis took the loss. The 5th-place Sounds have lost 4 straight games.
Portland used the timely hitting of Darryl Hamilton to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stag on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We take it day by day here," said Thompson, "and today was a good one for us."
