In a low-scoring tilt between the Portland Stag and the Salt Lake City Buzz, Bill C. Swift was the difference-maker. The Portland right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. In 7.1 innings, Swift surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Portland bumps their record to 44-40 with the win.
The Stag got an important contribution from second baseman Bret Barberie, who in the bottom of the seventh knocked a 0-2 curveball into left for a run-scoring single. It was his 15th hit of the season and put the Stag ahead, 3-2.
