Stag Come Back Late to Clip Tarantulas

The Tucson Tarantulas got a superb performance from pitcher Hector Wagner, but the Portland Stag still won the game, 4-3. Wagner was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. Portland improves to 55-30 with the win. They lead their division by 8½ games.
Milt Thompson came through for Portland when he hit a walk-off run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a first pitch curveball to center field, staking his team to a 4-3 lead.
Tucson manager said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
