Dave Staton drove in 3 runs to help Salt Lake City defeat Portland, 5-4. The designated hitter had 1 double and 1 home run for the Buzz. Todd Frohwirth, credited with the save, is now 4 for 5 in save opportunities. The Buzz saw their record improve to 13-77.

The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Staton delivered big-time for Salt Lake City, stroking a dramatic run-scoring double off Bob W. Malloy. The game-changing hit put the Buzz on top, 5-4.
