River Rats Prove Rude Guests, Win 8-5 at Portland
|
Spokane starter Reid Cornelius pitched effectively against the Portland Stag at Tuttle Fields. The right-hander led his team to a 8-5 win. Cornelius, the winner, moves to 4-7. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 1 walk. The River Rats sit in 4th place in the Pacific West with a record of 42-51.
With scoring opportunities rare, the River Rats had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when left fielder Donald Harris hit a 2-run single. The single came off Brian Givens and made the score 5-1, River Rats. Harris was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
