River Rats Come Back Late to Clip Stag
|
Jeff Barry had a good game, but he could not keep the Portland Stag from falling, 6-5, to the Spokane River Rats at Tuttle Fields. The Portland left fielder went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 in the loss. Ricky Trlicek got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances. Spokane has now won 3 in a row.
Spokane grabbed a 6-4 lead in the top of the eighth when Shannon Penn hit a 2-run single. For the day, Penn went 2-5 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Penn told the Spokane Observer. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
