Portland Stag starter Scott Karl was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Naperville Lazy Fisherman, 5-1. The third-place Stag raised their record to 55-47.

Portland took advantage of an error in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Hiroshi Shibahara hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Portland in front, 3-1.

"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Shibahara.
