Yankees Stymie Atlanta, Take 5-1 Win
|
It was a good time at Yankee Stadium, where fans came to watch the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees get after it.
Jim Abbott pitched a gem to lead New York to a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves. Abbott, now 3-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run.
Mike LaValliere tagged a home run off Ron Robinson in the bottom of the third. His solo blast put the Yankees on top, 1-0. In all, LaValliere had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I really like what we did out there today," LaValliere said after the game.
The Braves fall to 13-13 and continue their uneasy start to the 1994 season.
