Tarantulas Solve Brass, 5-2
|
The Tucson Tarantulas topped the New Orleans Brass, 5-2, in Pacific action at Bay Hawks Ballpark. The player of the game was Tucson pitcher Bill Wegman. Jay Howell, credited with the save, is now 17 for 18 in save opportunities. Tucson, at 51-54, occupies third place in the Pacific West.
Tucson used the bat of Roberto Mejia to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Tarantulas ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Tucson manager .
