Stag Mow Down Chukars, 10-2
|
The Portland Stag defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars, 10-2, in Pacific action at Alleycats Ballpark. Jeff Kunkel received player of the game honors. The 3-year veteran went 3 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Bill C. Swift was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Stag.
Portland used the bat of Wes Chamberlain to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Stag ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Chamberlain.
