Right-hander Paul Wagner mesmerized the Portland Stag while leading the New Orleans Brass to a 7-0 victory. New Orleans is now 69-36.

The Brass got a lift from second baseman Jason Bates who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Bob W. Malloy. It was his 44th walk of the season and put New Orleans in front, 1-0.

"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Wagner told the New Orleans Herald. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
