Stag Win at Tucson, 6-3
|
The Portland Stag stopped the Tucson Tarantulas, 6-3, behind an impressive performance from Darryl Hamilton. The former first round draft pick made life miserable for Tucson pitching. He went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs. Portland starter Brian Givens was credited with the win after throwing 112 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 10-7. The first-place Stag have won 5 consecutive games.
The Stag got a big at-bat from second baseman Bill Pecota, who in the top of the fifth hit a 2-run double. It was his 12th double of the season and put the Stag on top, 4-2.
"We did a lot of things right," said Pecota.
