Whalers Surge Past Bisons to Take 1-0 Series Lead
The Hartford Whalers slipped past the visiting Buffalo Bisons on a walk-off in the opener of the League Championship Series at Wolves Ballpark today. Hartford starting pitcher Robert Person threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs, to lead the Whalers to the 5-4 win. The Whalers now lead the series 1-0.

F P Santangelo aided the Hartford cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Santangelo.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wolves Ballpark in Hartford. The scheduled starters for the game are Danny Jackson for the Buffalo Bisons and Bobby Chouinard for the the Hartford Whalers.
