Road Win Lifts Buffalo to 1-0 Lead in DS
|
The Buffalo Bisons started the Division Series in style today, winning on the road against the Asheville Moonshiners at Torrance Grounds by a score of 9-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Bisons right-hander Mike Williams was named player of the game after he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball.
It could have been a different outcome for Buffalo, had it not been for Matt Stairs, the top prospect . Stairs contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Buffalo up, 2-1.
"Every team in baseball loses," Moonshiners manager said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Torrance Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game are Danny Jackson for the Buffalo Bisons and Matt Beech for the the Asheville Moonshiners.
