Boskie Handcuffs Moonshiners, Bisons Seize 2-0 Advantage in DS
|
The Buffalo Bisons moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the visiting Asheville Moonshiners at Aspinwall Grounds by a score of 9-2. Bisons right-hander Shawn Boskie was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Bisons a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
In the bottom of the fourth, Buffalo first baseman Miguel Cairo had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Cairo stroked a 2-run double to left. It made the score 5-2, Buffalo. For the game, he was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"We maximized our offense today," said Buffalo skipper . "That makes everyone's life easier."
The next game is set to be played Saturday, August 17th, 1996 at Torrance Grounds in Asheville. Slated to start are Mac Suzuki for Buffalo and Salomon Torres for Asheville.
