Bisons Hammered by Ochiai, Drop Game 3 to Moonshiners
|
At 42, Hiromitsu Ochiai knows he may not have many playoff appearances left, so he was determined to make it memorable. Mission accomplished.
The Asheville Moonshiners third baseman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice to help his club get past the Buffalo Bisons, 7-6, in Game 3 of the Division Series at Torrance Grounds today. Ochiai took player of the game honors for his performance. With the win, Asheville now trails Buffalo 1-2 in the best-of-5 series.
Asheville shortstop Cris Colon had a key at-bat for the Moonshiners in the bottom of the ninth inning. Facing Buffalo pitcher Jeff Suppan, Colon hit a walk-off run-scoring single to make the score 7-6, Asheville. For the day, he went 1 for 1.
"This was a good win for us," said Ochiai. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Torrance Grounds. The scheduled starters for the game are Mac Suzuki for Buffalo and Matt Beech for Asheville.
