Lazy Fisherman, Stag Play 11 to Settle Game 1, Naperville Now Leads Series 1-0
|
The Naperville Lazy Fisherman took the first game of the Division Series in dramatic fashion today, topping the Portland Stag 5-4 in an extra-inning walk-off win. Lazy Fisherman left fielder Brian L Hunter was selected player of the game, as he was 3 for 6 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times.
The Lazy Fisherman used some clutch hitting to beat the Stag, a good example being the at-bat of Kevin Reimer in the bottom of the 11th. With two down, Reimer gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he hit a walk-off run-scoring double.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Hunter told the Naperville Times.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Naperville. Slated to start are Chris Holt for Portland and Robert Person for Naperville.
