Karros, New Orleans Start Division Series Strong with Home Win
|
The New Orleans Brass started the Division Series in style today, downing the visiting Portland Stag at Bay Hawks Ballpark by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Brass first baseman Eric Karros was named player of the game after he was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Bill Selby had a game-changing hit. The Brass third baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Bill C. Swift, making the score 4-3, New Orleans.
Karros said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Bay Hawks Ballpark. The scheduled starters for the game are Chuck Ricci for Portland and Trevor Wilson for New Orleans.
