Raucous Red Devils Stadium Crowd Propels Sounds to 5-0 Victory; Series Tied at 1
|
Trailing by a game in the Division Series, Esteban Loaiza was ready for his start.
The right-hander turned in a performance for the ages at Red Devils Stadium today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Nashville Sounds to victory in Game 2 of the Division Series. Loaiza held the Round Rock Express to 6 hits and no walks, while striking out 7. The win brought Nashville into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
Loaiza, a native of Tijuana, Mexico, was dealing all game. He kept Round Rock hitters off-balance, while giving the Sounds 9 quality innings. Loaiza threw 128 pitches, allowing 6 hits and striking out 7.
"I'd like to pitch a complete game every time," said Loaiza.
The next game is set to be played Sunday in Round Rock. The scheduled starters for the game are Pete J. Smith for the Nashville Sounds and Amaury Telemaco for the the Round Rock Express.
