Olivares Handcuffs Brass, Stag Seize 2-1 Advantage in DS
The Portland Stag silenced the New Orleans Brass today to move within one game of the League Championship Series. The Stag shut out the Brass by a final score of 1-0 at Tuttle Fields. Portland right-hander Omar Olivares was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 9 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Stag a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.

Olivares allowed no runs over 9 innings. He also racked up 8 strikeouts.

"It's always fun to see the other guys getting frustrated, but the series isn't over and we've got to make sure to keep them on their heels," Portland manager said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Portland. Slated to start are Paul Wagner for the New Orleans Brass and Scott Karl for the the Portland Stag.
