Stewart, Buffalo Start World Series Strong with Home Win
|
The Buffalo Bisons started the World Series in style today, downing the visiting New Orleans Brass at Aspinwall Grounds by a score of 9-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Bisons designated hitter Shannon Stewart was named player of the game after he went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
The Bisons picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Stewart.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Vaughn Eshelman for the New Orleans Brass and Jeff Suppan for the the Buffalo Bisons.
