Road Win Lifts New Orleans to 1-0 Lead in CS
|
The New Orleans Brass started the League Championship Series in dominant fashion today, blowing out the host Omaha Storm Chasers at Maples Stadium by a score of 10-3 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Brass catcher Mike R. Fitzgerald was named player of the game as he went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 4 runs.
It could have been a different outcome for New Orleans, had it not been for Chris Snopek, the 24-year old designated hitter . Snopek contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put New Orleans up, 3-0.
Fitzgerald said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Maples Stadium in Omaha. Slated to start are LaTroy Hawkins for the New Orleans Brass and Kevin Tapani for the the Omaha Storm Chasers.
