Stag Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
|
With third baseman Fernando Tatis leading the charge, the Portland Stag got a road win over the Spokane River Rats, 9-5, in Game 2 of the League Championship Series today. Tatis was 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once at Foxes Ballpark to help Portland take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The game turned with no one out in the top of the seventh when Tatis, the 22nd overall pick in the 1996 draft, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Stag into the lead, 7-5.
"It feels good to get this one," Tatis told the Portland Bulletin.
Game 3 is set to be played Saturday at Tuttle Fields in Portland. Slated to start are Jaret Wright for Spokane and Dave Burba for Portland.
