Almost There: New Orleans On Cusp of CS Triumph After 6-2 Win
|
The New Orleans Brass moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Omaha Storm Chasers at Bay Hawks Ballpark by a score of 6-2. Brass left-hander Vaughn Eshelman was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Brass a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Chris Snopek aided the New Orleans cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Snopek, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."
Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow in New Orleans. The scheduled starters for the game are Bill Wegman for the Omaha Storm Chasers and Paul Wagner for the the New Orleans Brass.
