Naperville Breaks Through for First Win in League Championship Series; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Naperville Lazy Fisherman have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Nashville Sounds, winning 4-2 at Red Devils Stadium today. Lazy Fisherman right-hander Robert Person was named player of the game after he threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Lazy Fisherman to 2-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Andy Van Slyke had a productive at-bat for the Lazy Fisherman with one out in the top of the second. With a runner on 1st, the designated hitter hit a run-scoring double. The at-bat was important in the Naperville win.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Person. "Successful pitchers do it."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Red Devils Stadium. Slated to start are Scott Arnold for the Naperville Lazy Fisherman and Pete J. Smith for the the Nashville Sounds.
