Cubs Turn Back Boston, 3-1
|
Chicago got an elite performance from starting pitcher Jeff D. Robinson in taking a 3-1 decision over the Boston Red Sox. The winning pitcher was Robinson, now 2-3. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2. The Red Sox drop to 15-15 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1995 season.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Jay Buhner to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Buhner said after the game.
