|
New York center fielder Sammy Sosa was instrumental in his team's 6-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Sosa, who is tied for 10th in the UL in extra base hits with 17, went 1-3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Mets. Frank Castillo got the win, improving to 4-4. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. New York is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Sosa had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth to put New York in front, 6-1. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run.
"We've got a great group of guys," Sosa said, "and we're having fun right now."
