Multi-HR Day for Berroa as Twins Overpower Red Sox, 9-2
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Geronimo Berroa, the Minnesota Twins defeated the Boston Red Sox, 9-2. Berroa went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice for the Twins. Darren Oliver went 7 innings for Minnesota to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 2 earned runs. He scattered 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 11. His record improves to 1-0. Losses have been few and far between for the Red Sox, who are now 4-1.
With Minnesota leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Berroa hit a changeup from Chan Ho Park for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Twins ahead, 4-0.
"We did a lot of things right," said Berroa.
