The Charlotte Knights got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Scott Bankhead, but it was good enough for the club to take a 3-2 decision over the New York Yankees. Earning his 5th save of the year was Matt Mantei. The losing streak for New York has now reached 5 games.
Had Orlando Merced not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Merced hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Knights.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said New York manager Tigerr Wolfe.
