Rangers Bridle Red Sox, 3-1
|
Angel Miranda never let Boston get something going. The Texas left-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Rangers to a 3-1 win. In 6.1 innings, Miranda surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 12 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Rob Murphy earned the save, his 8th.
Texas relied on the hitting of John Elway to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers on top, 3-1. For the game, Elway had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Miranda said after the game.
The Rangers, now 24-25, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
