Cardinals Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Knights
|
Charlotte got a terrific performance from first baseman Jason Giambi, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis won the Busch Stadium contest, 6-5. Giambi was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. St. Louis is now 29-28.
Karim Garcia was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Garcia.
