Reds Win in Extras
The Cincinnati Reds stopped the Boston Red Sox, 7-5, behind an impressive performance from Tino Martinez. The 27-year old first baseman made life miserable for Boston pitching. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Cincinnati reliever Arthur Rhodes picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. John Hudek absorbed the loss. Todd Worrell notched his 17th save in 19 chances.

Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Bernie Williams, hit a double. It helped Cincinnati seize the win.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Williams told the Cincinnati Daily.

Boston has now lost 7 consecutive games.
