Cardinals Solve Spiders, 5-3
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Cleveland Spiders, 5-3, in Federal League action at Busch Stadium. The player of the game was St. Louis pitcher and Long Beach, California native Scott Erickson. With the win, St. Louis improves its record to 4-5.

The Cardinals beat the Spiders with some clutch hitting. The home run by Tim Raines in the bottom of the second is a good example. With two down, Raines gave his team the lead, 3-0, when he came through with the big hit.

"This was a good win," said Erickson.
