Braves Best White Sox in Pitching Duel
|
The Atlanta Braves did just enough to sneak past the Chicago White Sox, 2-1, at Comiskey Park. Atlanta pitcher Roger Pavlik earned player of the game honors. Pavlik got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 4 over 8.1 innings. Pavlik allowed 1 earned run. Steve Shirley got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Kent Anderson broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh with a run-scoring single. It put the Braves in front, 2-1. For the game, Anderson went 2-3 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Anderson told the Atlanta Daily News. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
The Braves keep rolling, raising their record to 6-3.
