Tartabull Pounds HR #300
Saturday, April 29th, 1995
The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Danny Tartabull was delighted, too. The 32-year-old Royals first baseman was making history with his 300th career homer. The crowd buzzed and roared again when Tartabull stuck his head out of the dugout for a curtain call.
"Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 300 in a 8-6 victory over Cleveland. Tartabull went 2-for-3 in the game, had 3 runs batted in, and scored 3 runs.
In his 1364-game career Tartabull is hitting .253 with 1312 hits, 248 doubles, 20 triples and 301 home runs. He has scored 905 runs and driven in 863.
