300 Homers for Van Slyke Tuesday, May 2nd, 1995 Swinging his way into the record books, Andy Van Slyke reached the 300 homer mark today at RFK Stadium against the Washington Senators. He went 2-for-3 with 2 runs batted in and 3 runs on the day, although San Diego would go down to defeat 10-5. "It was a distraction," Van Slyke said of his 300th home run. "I'm happy it's over. I just wish I'd been able to make a difference in the outcome today." In his 1696-game career Van Slyke is batting .283 with 403 doubles, 61 triples, 301 home runs and 1095 RBIs.
