San Diego Hexed: No-Hit by Harkey
Tuesday, August 1st, 1995
In a dominant outing, Mike Harkey of the San Francisco Giants totally silenced the bats of the San Diego Padres, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Giants' 2-0 victory, Harkey faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," San Francisco manager Alen Maglajac said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Matt Dodds told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Giants had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Harkey pitched a heck of a ballgame."
This season Harkey has 13 wins and 9 losses and a 3.02 ERA.
