Ripken Jr. Booms 400th Homer
Monday, July 25th, 1994
The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Cal Ripken Jr. was delighted, too. The 33-year-old Marlins shortstop was making history with his 400th career homer. The crowd buzzed and roared again when Ripken Jr. stuck his head out of the dugout for a curtain call.
"Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 400 in a 4-3 victory over San Francisco. Ripken Jr. went 2-for-3 in the game, had 1 run batted in, and scored 2 runs.
In his career Ripken Jr. is batting .264 with 2185 hits, 381 doubles, 50 triples and 400 home runs.
