Elway Socks 300th HR
Tuesday, August 16th, 1994
Orlando's 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh was highlighted by John Elway's 300th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.
"I didn't see all of them out there," Elway said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"
In 3 at-bats the Sun Rays right fielder collected 1 hit in his historic game, scored 1 run, and had 1 RBI.
In 1379 games, Elway is a lifetime .231 hitter. He has knocked in 857 runs, scored 758 times, hit 300 home runs, walked 688 times and has an on-base percentage of .334.
