Daal Spins No-Hitter
Wednesday, August 17th, 1994
Omar Daal really did a number on the San Diego Padres at Jack Murphy Stadium today -- and that number was zero.
The San Francisco Giants hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Giants to victory, 10-0.
"This is something special," Daal said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The left-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 9 and walked 1.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," San Diego manager Chris Levin said when asked about the epic performance. "Daal was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
Daal has taken the mound for 3 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 7-7 record with a 3.21 ERA. The San Francisco reliever has limited opposing batters to a .179 batting average.
