Downs Mystifies San Francisco Saturday, September 3rd, 1994 Colorado Rockies starter Kelly Downs really did a number on the San Francisco Giants today, shutting them out 2-0 on 5 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 2 walks and had 6 strikeouts. "We didn't have good at-bats," San Francisco manager Alen Maglajac. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Downs."
