It went the distance, but the Chicago Cubs finally disposed of the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 in the series clincher at Wrigley Field.
Winning the finale gave the Cubs the series, 4-3. They will now advance to the World Series.
The Most Valuable Player Award went to Chicago first baseman Mark Grace. He batted .346 in the series, collecting 5 RBIs and scoring 2 runs.
"Mark deserves it," said Cubs manager Anthony Perez. "He was the glue that held our club together."
