Obando Gets 5 Hits Tuesday, April 25th, 1995 Even as a kid, Sherman Obando said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Fremont today, Obando showed how well he learned that lesson. The 25-year-old right fielder had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Asheville Moonshiners, helping his team knock off the Brooklyn Cyclones by a score of 11-5. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Sherman Obando hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
