5-Hit Barrage by Myers Saturday, July 12th, 1997 Hartford Whalers center fielder Rod Myers really lit up the Columbus Clippers with a 5-hit barrage today at Mules Ballpark -- a performance that sparked the Whalers to a 10-2 triumph. He shrugged off the performance after the game, saying "sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes." Rod Myers singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Chris Carpenter in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. This season Myers is batting .339 with 10 home runs.
