Red-Hot Gutierrez Scorches Blue Crabs Monday, August 11th, 1997 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Ricky Gutierrez is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the Ocean City Blue Crabs at Fire Dogs Ballpark today. The monster effort from the 27-year-old first baseman helped the Hartford Whalers take the win, 17-2. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Blue Crabs manager . "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Ricky Gutierrez hit an RBI double in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Brian Bevil in the 9th.
