Almost There: Buffalo On Cusp of CS Triumph After 5-4 Win
|
The Buffalo Bisons moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Savannah Swamp Foxes at Aspinwall Grounds by a score of 5-4. Bisons second baseman Jay Canizaro was named player of the game after he went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. The win gives the Bisons a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Gerald Williams had a key at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the third for Buffalo. With a runner on 3rd and the Bisons leading 3-1, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"Every team in baseball loses," Swamp Foxes manager said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Aspinwall Grounds. Slated to start are Candy Sierra for the Savannah Swamp Foxes and Mac Suzuki for the the Buffalo Bisons.
