Bisons Hammered by Johnson, Drop Game 1 to Stag
|
The Portland Stag started the World Series in style today, winning on the road against the Buffalo Bisons at Aspinwall Grounds by a score of 12-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Stag first baseman Mark P Johnson was named player of the game after he went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once.
Johnson in the top of the first had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Stag leading 1-0, he hit a 3-run home run.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Portland manager .
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Buffalo. The scheduled starters for the game are Jason Jacome for Portland and Danny Jackson for Buffalo.
