Buffalo Breaks Through for First Win in World Series; Now Trails 3-1
|
The Buffalo Bisons have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Nashville Sounds, winning 5-3 at Aspinwall Grounds today. Bisons right fielder Matt Lawton was named player of the game after he was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Bisons to 3-1 in the best-of-7 World Series.
Lawton had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the sixth for the Bisons. Coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd and Buffalo trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run triple.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Lawton said in postgame remarks.
Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow at Aspinwall Grounds in Buffalo. Slated to start are Paul Wilson for Nashville and Mac Suzuki for Buffalo.
